Katrina Kaif seems to have learnt the Rajneeti of the filmdom

April 27, 2010: Katrina Kaif surely has proved her acting caliber on the silver screen. From her first film Boom to Rajneeti She has experimented with her look, performances and above all she has improved dancing as well as her speech skills too. Undoubtedly, the directors and the producers have broken the myth that she is just a glam doll. The credit nonetheless goes to Prakash Jha for his film Rajneeti in which Kats has taken the trouble of dubbing the dialogues in pure Hindi.

A heart to heart rendezvous follows with Lipika Varma from Sampurn Media

So how was it working with Prakash Jha who believes in hard hitting subjects with purely Hindi dialogues?
Yes! It was not difficult for me I can mug up ten pages at a stretch. I have an accent problem but I’ve tried to manage it well. In fact, when I sat down to surf some of the real characters from the political arena; I thought that in the quest of getting into some real political character, I was going wrong. Hence I decided to follow my reel character only. As a modern contemporary youth, I have tried to get the body language of Priyanka Gandhi. But by no means can you compare my reel character to any living political characters. You guys are just comparing me to Sonia Gandhi because I too belong to an English mother, with fair skin and black hair which is not really so.” Quips Katrina.

You came into this industry fresh, who do you give credit to as your ‘Godfather’?

Ya! I am not one belonging to the Bollywood industry. Everyone has a God Father. I have not one but many Godfathers who may have helped me attain the kind of success I have achieved in this short span of my career. Salman and Akshay Kumar have definitely helped me get to the horizon. I would also credit the blessings showered upon me by the almighty God which is why I have been able to achieve success.

It’s the survival of the fittest. And you are on the top of the female lead stars. How do you feel about it?

I feel good to be topping the list. If this comparison brings me on the top of the list why will I not like ranking. Human tendency is such that we love to be number one. Why will I not like the number game? But there ought to be a fair competition. We need not pursue wrong ways to just boost up our career. Our work needs to speak more than our action/words. If you say I’m topping the list in the number one game then I really feel elated.

Is it true that you are essaying Madhubala’s character in the biopic on Kishore Kumar?

I am open to doing good films. Being in the profession I need to know the script, if it is going to work or not. Yes! I do discuss it with my close people but the final decision rests with me. I am in the process of sorting out the details with UTV Productions. Nothing has been finalized as yet. I feel the media is in a bit of a hurry to publish news even before confirming it, which was not the case earlier.

What profession would you have pursued if you weren’t a part of the Bollywood industry?

I have always been a day dreamer. Probably because I had a sense of insecurity as we have been wanderers. We never were stationed in one place. I always loved to be a fire-fighter also performing stunts would always fancy me. I love to live in a castle built world.

You seem to be very excited about working with Hrithik, is it true?

Yes! I’m very excited about working with Hrithik tentatively in a movie titled Zindagi Mile Na Dobara. This film is surely going to be a path-breaking and a youthful film. I am sure it will be a brilliant film. My role is that of a free spirited girl. I’m really looking forward to work with Hrithik Roshan. Although it is a difficult character but I will surely be able to perform to the best of my ability.

How do you manage to stay in such a great shape?

I hate doing regular gym. I feel good exercise twice or thrice a week only. I remember how my trainer of Tees Maar Khan made me do rigorous exercises. But now I just tell him to schedule it only twice a week. I believe in maintaining a proper diet. I maintain myself by following the right kind of lifestyle.

Katrina Kaif to Brave Ash by Boat?

The world stood still last week as Iceland's Eyjafjallajoekull volcano erupted and started spewing ash, stranding thousands of flights across the U.S. and Europe and leaving several hundreds of thousands of travelers stuck at airports. But if you think that Bollywood stars were not concerned by the problems happening on the other side of the world, think again!

Just ask Katrina Kaif, she suffered the consequences of the flight ban when she got to Mumbai airport on Thursday night to take off and visit her family who lives in London. After waiting for a while, the actress had to face reality and, like many other hopeful travelers, turn around and go back to Mumbai.

And Katz did seem a bit disappointed as she told reporters, "It was a very important family function. And I had to attend. I never realized it'd be impossible to make it. When I reached the airport I came to know about what had happened. I was still not disheartened because I thought at the most, I'd be delayed. As I often am. When it comes to travel one learns to be patient at airports."

And while the volcano has been active for more than hundred years, Katrina blamed humans' 'abuse of the environment,' all the while insisting that she has learned to be patient when it comes to air travel, only this time it was really important for her to get to England.

And now the former model says she will get to London no matter what the cost, even if she has to take a train or a boat! As long as she doesn't decide to swim!

"Such things are bound to happen increasingly if we continue to abuse our environment. Personally I wouldn't have minded missing the flight. But it was a very important family gathering. Not being part of it really hurt. I don't care if it is by train or boat. I've to get to London," Katrina complained.

Cricket lessons for Katrina Kaif

Katrina’s innings in Bollywood is going strong however she is quite a rookie at playing cricket
. Katrina’s footwork and swings much better on the dance floor than on the pitch, Katrina understandably needed a few batting tips to wield the willow on the sets of Raajneeti.

Recently Katrina Kaif disclosed that she would even play cricket while dressed in a saree on the film’s sets. Arjun Rampal, her co-star from the film, is seen giving her a crash course in batting and bowling. Ranbir Kapoor was surprisingly missing from the action.

Katrina is also associated with IPL as she is the brand ambassador for Vijay Malya’s Royal Challenger Banglore.

Playful Ranbir Kapoor calls Katrina Kaif bhabhiji

After playing the love interest of Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’, Katrina Kaif will be seen in a far from romantic relationship in their upcoming release ‘Raajneeti.’
Katrina Kaif will be seen as Arjun Rampal’s widow and Ranbir’s sister-in-law in Prakash Jha’s ‘Raajneeti.’ While shooting for ‘Raajneeti’ in Bhopal, Ranbir would humorously tease Katrina and call her Bhabhiji.

News has it that Katrina is said to have said, “Ranbir and I can’t get anymore unconventional than ‘Raajneeti’ where we both go into a completely new space. Now if and when we do another film, it should be something totally mainstream.”

Katrina Kaif rejects Ranbir for Hrithik

It was reported that Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani pair Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor would act together again in a film by Imtiaz Ali. But the latest we hear is that Katrina has opted out of the film in order to act with Hrithik Roshan.

Buzz up!
It's said that Katrina got the role in Imtiaz's new film because of Ranbir but she dumped it after getting a plumber role. She just could not refuse when Luck By Chance director Zoya Akhtar came up with a role opposite Hrithik.

But is Katrina staking her friendship with Ranbir by rejecting his film?

Katrina Kaif v/s. Priyanka Chopra: Ego clash or fear of competition?

Priyanka Chopra may be a yummy item in your menu, but certainly, she’s not very much into Katrina’s good books. The report flooding in is that Katrina has pulled out of a Ranbir Kapoor starrer film after coming to know that Priyanka Chopra is also a part of it.

Katty had earlier had signed the film under the impression that she was the sole leading lady but pulled out after getting to know that Piggy Chops was the 2nd belle. “When Katrina agreed to do Anurag Basu’s film with Ranbir, no mention was made of another heroine, and certainly not of Priyanka. However, when word about this reached her, she found the whole idea of the credit titles reading ‘Ranbir-Katrina-Priyanka’ too gimmicky. Not that she has anything against Priyanka or any other co-star,” says a close pal of Kats.

So, is it due to ego clash or is it a fear of getting shadowed by the more matured actress Priyanka? You are entitled to your opinion, so I am not making any conclusions. However, this is what Katrina cites, “I am not saying I won’t do films with other leading ladies, but for now, I’m happy in the space I am. Why should I unnecessarily rock the boat?”

Now, what you folks have to say about this?
