Ajab award ki ghazab kahani

THE RIGHT FOCUS: Katrina Kaif was in the city recently to receive an award. ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) honoured her with the 2009 Excellence in Performing Arts award. The award was to be given to her in December 2009, as a part of the ASSOCHAM programme, Focus, but Katz fell ill, so the event was delayed.
KATRINA KO GUSSA KYUN AAYA? Forget fashionably late, the actress was nowhere to be seen for two and a half hours. And there was no dearth of speculation. At the ceremony, we had heard that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would present the award. But later, the guests (and Katrina too) were informed she would not come. “Mrs Vadra has not been able to join us as she is still in Rae Bareilly,” said Swati A Piramal, president, ASSOCHAM. Aur humne yeh sab suna – ‘Katrina naraaz ho gayi hai, kyunki Priyanka nahin aa rahi. And that’s why she isn’t even turning up to receive the award’, ‘Kisi aur ke haath se nahin lena chahti hai, shayad’...
BETTER LATE THAN NEVER: After the
prolonged delay, Katrina finally arrived.
Sujata Dev
said with a smile, “It was our love for her that made us impatiently wait for her.” Katz accepted the award, along with a Patola scarf presented to her by Piramal, as ASSOCHAM is helping weavers connect to the market. In her acceptance speech, Katz said that she was happy to have received the award and was glad to know that ASSOCHAM is taking an initiative for weavers and women entrepreneurs. Guess, all’s well that ends well.

Diary of Katrina (Feb16)

Date: 16-02-2010

7.00am: Just landed, Day 1 of no sleep. I'm beginning to feel like I live in Bangkok, My third time here this month for the shooting of an ad film. I DEFINITELY LOVE MUMBAI!

10 am: Reach for shoot. Beautiful location, working with a fancy director from Paris.

12 pm: The shooting lights are so bright, I just want to close my eyes and go to sleep in front of the camera...NO, I don't think that will make a good impression

1 pm: Discovery of the day: An amazing singer, Nitin Sawhney, the Director tells me he lives in LA. He is awesome, has anybody heard of him??

3 pm: After thinking the same thing for the 3000th time in the same day, I've decided to maybe start writing, not a script....just thoughts in general...There are wayyyyy too many thoughts in my head.

6 pm: Got some really nice shots... "Pack-up"- my two favourite words. Driving back. I always look at people's faces on the street and try and imagine what they are thinking.

8.30 pm: Dinner with my team. Food is the best thing in life. As much as possible, of it..

10 pm: Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist on TV-it's my movie!! I want to do a movie like this!! Movie over... I have a funny feeling I will not get sleep tonight... Me and my 3000 thoughts...

Diary of Katrina (Feb17)

Date: 17-02-2010

8 am: Another sleepless night. The world looks surreal when you are this tired...

10 am: Back at shoot. I am moving VERY slowly...Must try and do things slightly faster, or will be here for another month.

12 pm: Our crew is from six different countries, so whenever anyone wants to express something they say it in their own language: French, Spanish, English, Chinese, Dutch... Lovely!

1 pm: A great way to get people to co-operate is a smile; our director definitely knows that! Every time I want to run away, after the 90th take, he gives me a lovely smile and I feel I must behave :-)

3 pm: I really want to learn about cinematography, so I ask the DoP a lot of questions using technical terms... from the  look on his face, don't think I made sense.

6 pm: After what seems like a million shots, and almost falling into a pond - It's a wrap!! Yeh!!! Runnnn..

8.30pm: Off to the mall, sometimes I need to at least pretend that I'm interested in girlie things like shopping... Too much traffic, we get on a train for the first time in years... It's not so bad...

9 pm: I'm sooo tired, I go to sleep on the dinner table... Off to the airport... I hate standing in queues... Why can't we all just love each other, so then we wouldn't need security checks??

Katrina danced at a musical show in Delhi

Katrina Kaif danced at a sangeet ceremony in New Delhi recently and her choli could barely hold in her assets. This is one time you don't have to ask, "choli ke peeche kya hai?" It's all on display.

Diary of Katrina Kaif

Date: 18-02-2010

i

9 am: Back in Mumbai...There's never enough time in the day...Shoots, fittings, rehearsals, ad films, script narrations, dubbing... Day starts at 9 am and ends at 12 midnight...

10 am: Reached dubbing for Rajneeti again. "Main Bharat ki prabhuta aur akhandta akshun rakhoongi'. So much fun.

1 pm: Lunch. Have  a very important announcement to make...My 'Flip' has arrived...The Flip is basically a very small video camera...I have been desperately waiting for it... I'm overjoyed. I'm going to film everything now. (Always wanted to be a director)

4 pm: Leave to get ready for a conference...Reach home. Nothing to wear. Take everything out of my cupboard... Still have nothing to wear. (Oh! Never mind...I'll wear something I've worn before)...

5 pm: Everyday, there is always one song that plays in my head over and over. Today's song -"Ne-Yo: Mad At You"

8 pm: Press conference begins. Always love the media's questions... still, here are some suggestions: Why are you so nice? Why is the world so nice? How are your movies so wonderful? We would all be much happier...

10 pm: My gym time  is spent like this-The first 20 mins, I try to talk my trainer Yasmin out of working out,  by regaling her with stories. She eventually pulls me up by my hair and chases me around ...That's the only way she can get me to work out! It's actually not too bad... She's lovely.

12 am: Rocky comes home for a costume fitting... It's always a bit of a shouting match at first, but he always comes up with something wonderful. And since he is one of my best friends, we chat up the night...

Saif and Kat avoid each other

Actor Saif Ali Khan and Kat were present at an event in Mumbai recently, where the stars reportedly shared cold vibes.

According to industry sources, Saif’s girlfriend Kareena Kapoor doesn’t like Saif mingling with any of her rivals, which is why he gave Kat the cold shoulder. To make matters worse, a journo at the the press conference referred Kat as ‘Kareena’. Katrina shot back, “This is Katrina, not Kareena.”

Wow, a T instead of R maade difference.

Katrina speaks Bhojpuri

Katrina tried to impress her fans in Patna by speaking in Bhojpuri with them. However, sweet the effort was, it failed miserably. Yet the moment was hilarious.

A website reports that while Kat was in Patna for the launch of a TV channel, Rajneeti director Prakash Jha insisted that the actress address her fans in Bhojpuri. Her co-stars Manoj Bajpai and Ravi Kishen were put to task to teach the leggy-lass. Kat eagerly learnt a few Bhojpuri words to address the public.
The actress tried to say, "How are you?"  (Ka haal ba Patna) instead of saying haal ba, she kept on pronouncing halba. After a point, it sounded like halwa. Which is a dessert and does not mean what she actually intended. Sweat literally!

Katrina Loves Travelling

Katrina Kaif may keep busy all year round, but the actress loves to travel whenever she has some time to herself. A friend of Katrina says, “Kat loves meeting people from different cultures and learning about various traditions.”

That’s not all. She enjoys picking up souvenirs from local shops abroad. “She collects souvenirs that will remind her of the place she visited,” adds her friend.

Robert Pattinson still in Katrina’s thoughts?

Bollywood’s reigning queen Katrina Kaif is so impressed with "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson that she just can't stop thinking about him. She even plans to meet Robert during her annual holiday with her family in London.

“It’s almost like an obsession, you know…I’m not able to get Pattinson out of my head...I've never felt this way about any man before," Katrina says.

"I have in my possession all the four books in 'Twilight', 'New Moon', 'Eclipse' and 'Breaking Dawn'. I've finished reading three of the 'Twilight' books in less than four days and into the fourth now. I just can't get enough of him," she said.

The actress now plans to meet Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen in the "Twilight" series. Her representatives are said to be in touch with the latest Hollywood heartthrob. "Obviously, the meeting has to be a formal one. He says he's single, but I don't believe him. That's what they all say," she says laughingly.

It’d be better if Katrina remembers that one Mr. Salman Khan and Priyanka had been waiting for her for ages now!

Katrina Kaif Unveils Femina 50 most beautiful Women Pictures

Sunday, February 7, 2010

People and fans will get a new look of their Bollywood diva Katrina Kaif appearing in small screen and that too in an image of a charity worker for none other than A R Rahman’s latest music album.
May be Katrina wants to shed one of her hot image to a sober role. More over a good way to earn public attention to a greater extent. Alternatively, you can say that it may be the influence of her character that Katrina plays in ‘Rajneeti’ opposite Ranbir Kapoor that may have inspired her into social issues.
She will feature in three separate music videos with kids. As Salman Khan genuinely contribues for downtrodden children which public apprehends well, Katrina into the stream line is quite evident, she states “I love working with kids. So it’d be a special treat hopefully for the kids as well.”
As reported from the source A R Rahman’s composition is incorporated from famous nursery rhymes, such as 'Jack and Jill' and 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', to inspire the kids educatively.
It is completely unusual Katrina Kaif in small screen, which she didn’t attempt to in the beginging of her career. When there is Katrina at hand, Rahman could not do anything but decide to break his vow of not doing any Indian music after 'Slumdog Millionaire' apart from 'Blue', which he had agreed well before winning Oscar.
A R Rahman thought of again returning back to his roots and make children album. As always up with an unusual note, his new experiments with songs, is expected to come up with fresh and original notes. This time he is launching new vocalist for his songs' effect.

Katrina Kaif keen to win National Award

Prakash Jha’s Raajneeti isn’t in the news only because of the chemistry between the lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. Those on the sets of this political thriller in Bhopal say that the film is also special to Kat not only because she is the only female protagonist; she is also hoping the film will get her a National Award.

A source on the sets says, “Katrina is very keen on winning a National Award. She doesn’t seem to hanker after the rest of the awards, but yes, on the sets she often mentioned that winning the National Award would mean the world to her.”

An insider adds that, in her own clever way, Katrina has told filmmaker Prakash Jha to try and give her a couple of dramatic scenes with the twice National Award-winning actor Ajay Devgan (Zakhm, The Legend of Bhagat Singh). And she is hopeful that Raajneeti is her big ticket to India’s biggest acting honour.

Katrina, of course says, “The script of the film is exactly as it was. And I certainly don’t think I’m winning the National Award.”

However, it is said that the actress even volunteered a price-cut but is keen that she is able to match histrionics with the other award-winning actors... and has said this to Prakash Jha in so many words.

Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif attend screening of Veer, but Salman did not

Mumbai: Aamir Khan and Katrina Kaif attend screening of Veer, but Salman did not:Salman Khan’s movie ‘Veer’ is set in the pre-independence era during the time when Britishers ruled India.
A private screening for the same was held and many popular known faces made it to the screening.
Being Salman Khan’s girlfriend, of course Katrina Kaif was present. Recently good friend of Sallu, Aamir Khan was also present.
Other good friend of Salman like Urvashi Sharma, Sonakshi Sinha, Prem Chopra and others turned up for the screening.
But look the irony, all these people made it to the screening except Salman himself. It seems he had other commitments

Zarine Khan replaces Katrina Kaif

After making a not so dream debut Zarine Khan seems to have struck gold. Her resemblance toKatrina Kaif seems to be working in her favour and if grapevine is to be believed she has replaced Katrina from the sequel of the 2007 hit Partner. The David Dhawan directed movie stared Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Govinda and Lara Dutta.

Zarine Khan remains tight lipped about the project and says it is to early for her to disclose anything. Even film's director David Dhawan says it is too early to talk about the cast of the movie which is expected to start shooting this year. Well, Zarine Khan will be on Cloud Nine and why not as not every body double gets a leading role in Bollywood.

Kat says NO to Kiss

The buzz from Bollywood today involves superstar Katrina Kaif’s supposed refusal to do onscreen scenes that involve kissing or wearing revealing clothing. The long and short of her new acting mantra? “No kissy, no bikini shots.” Kaif has reportedly shunned the idea of doing scenes which she feels are uncomfortable. In fact, based on all the stories coming out today, she always has felt bad about being asked to do such scenes. This could be the best or worst PR movie ever in Bollywood if reports are true.
Katrina revealed she never liked doing such revealing or intimate scenes in the first place, but she is going to rectify her mistakes in the past, and is refusing to give in to pressures any more. One source suggests that Katrina told director/producer Tarun Mansukhani of her decision while making Dostana Part Two.

Apparently, directors and producers have basically tried to force Kaif to perform such scenes by suggesting the script or story line demanded them. Kaif says this will no longer work. Many critics suggest Kaif’s stand on the issue may not be a wise one no matter how successful she has become.
Other actresses are ready to do just about anything to get a part, so Katrina is putting herself in a little bit of a compromised position in the long run. Still, she has to be respected for taking a stand on her own artistic license an interpretation. At least if these reports are true. The beautiful actress is maybe one of the only artists in Bollywood who could pull such an act off. Leaving more to the imagination is a good thing really. Many fine actresses, in Hollwood for instance, have taken their personas to the next level in such a way. Of course refusing kissing is a lot more limiting than refusing nudity or love scenes in general.
Katrina just accepted an award for her contributions to cinema from the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India. She revealed a little more of her personal mantra to fans and critics alike in speaking about “self belief” as a key to life success. Katrina reportedly made the following statement to reporters in New Delhi:

I think everyone wants to make the best of the opportunities you get in life. Everyone has a special place in the world and I think self-belief is the most important thing which keeps you going so you should never lose it.

Katrina Kaif is Bollywood’s most famous actress obviously. Leading can be a difficult task for any celebrity or official as we all now. Many of Katrina’s fans and associates will obviously appreciate her position on these issues. Confidence after all, come from knowing one is doing the right thing. The bottom line on the PR end of things is, if fans support her decision she is a genius. Otherwise?

Personal Quotes of Katrina

  • It's not my style to either wear minimum clothes, to strip or to even be comfortable with a sex-symbol label. I just want to do good work instead of sporting such meaningless tags. Sex sells, but to a small extent, not always. And this is what filmmakers have to accept. The exposure has to be relevant to the film and its characters and not forced for the sake of titillation. On the contrary, some of the greatest Indian films have been devoid of all these sexual trappings. I know my comfort zone in today's Indian culture and society.
  • Her thoughts on Bollywood accepting her, being an outsider British girl, into Indian cinema: "I have no complaints. I think I'm especially lucky. As you said, I've come from outside and I'm not even anywhere closely connected. But I have absolutely no problem here. People have been more than welcoming, even before I was ready. There was a time when I felt that I need to take time to understand more about the industry, the workings of it. I was doing my modeling, which I really wanted to do at the time. So that's why even my entry into films was later than people expected." (Stardust magazine, July 2006)
  • "I've been very blessed, I think, or what do you call it... mmm... lucky to get at this stage what I have. It's not like I've come from acting school and done work at an academy or something. I feel I've been given a very huge chance and opportunity." (Stardust magazine, July 2006)
  • My Hindi was bad about three years ago. I wanted to achieve a certain status in modeling. Through that I got confidence to get into movies. Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005) came at the right time. I had done kathak training which apart from teaching you about dancing also teaches you about emotions. After that experience, I feel this year will be a much better year for me.
  • I think I have been very lucky so far. I have done a lot of ads and also some films down south. People have liked me. I guess I have found a balance.
  • Wait and watch. Jee Karda should be on air later this month. We shot at 4am every day to capture the light and it was scorching. To keep cool we would stay in shades and sip fruit juice or mint tea.
  • Egypt is among the most beautiful countries I have visited - the pyramids, the temples and the landscape are absolutely exotic. I even enjoyed the barbecue dinner on a boat on the Nile. We shot in a number of places and I've come back with fond memories of my trip.
  • I unwind myself by taking off the costume and make-up as soon as the shoot is over! And get a spa treatment. It is extremely relaxing. Unfortunately, the kind of lifestyle and schedule we have, we hardly get time. Not only actors, but I have seen a lot of directors and journalists with skin problems and believe me, all that can be cured by a spa treatment.
  • Salman Khan did not help me get movie offers. What rubbish! Will any producer take a risk of millions of rupees at the instance of any person? Everyone knows that the film industry is highly competitive, and one gets a job on one's talent only and not on any recommendation.
  • My relationship with Salman Khan is too personal to talk about. I take my work like any other regular job and what I do in my personal life is no one's business. I'd rather let my work do all the talking.
  • Every one has her own love life. Every one has a dream to get a perfect life partner. But this is not so easy in real life. In fact, one doesn't love, it happens. As far as I am concerned, I love a boy who is linked with the film industry. However, I shall not name him. You never know what may happen in future.

I Love Katrina

Katrina Kaif : A Biography

Date of Birth - 16th July, 1984
Nickname - Kat

Height- 5' 8½" (1.74 m)

Mini Biography:

Born in Hong Kong on July 16, 1984 Katrina Kaif is one of eight siblings, all girls, from a mother who is a Caucasian of British Nationality, and a father who was formerly from Kashmir, India, but who has since acquired British citizenship. Her mother is now re-settled in Chennai (formerly known as Madras), the Capital of the state of Tamil Nadu in India.

She spent subsequent years in Hawaii, and then in London, Britain, She started modeling accidentally when she was in Hawaii at the tender age of 14, when she was approached for a jewelry campaign. Thereafter she continued modeling in London.

Continuing to model was the reason she got her break in a Bollywood movie 'Boom' offered by none other than film-maker Kaizad Gustad.

She was flooded with modeling assignments the minute she set her foot on Indian soil, especially with her innocent expressive face, hour-glass figure, and drop-dead gorgeous looks.

Professionally she started off as a model with photographer Atul Kasbekar, and upon being accepted, she received offers from LG, Cola, Fevicol, Lakme, & Veet. It was the Lakme commercial that got her noticed. She retained Matrix as her Manager to accept work on her behalf and at the price she deserved.

Moving to different culture and country was not much of a culture shock for her, as she states that no matter where you come from, the bottom line is that everyone wants to be loved, respected, and cared for.

Despite of her positive attitude, she had been stereotyped as "Indian" by extreme right-wingers in Britain who made it clear that she did not quite fit-in with their "Blonde" Caucasian culture; while on the other hand in India itself she had been ranked as an 'outsider' very much like Sonia Gandhi.

Unlike other artistes from foreign lands, Katrina did not experience any difficulties in getting a visa nor of getting it extended in India.

Although linguistically challenged, Katrina puts on a bold face and states that other Bollywood artistes like Sridevi, who did not know Hindi, did get offers from Bollywood film-makers, and she is no different. She has taken Hindi and dancing lessons to fit in with the Bollywood culture. She likes to display a picture of her learning Kathak dancing where she used to dance 7 hours a day non-stop.

Adorned with soft gorgeous looks, she is not easily intimidated, but admits that she is very emotional, sensitive, and concerned about her privacy, Almost an incurable romantic, she prefers to wear comfortable non-revealing clothes when at home, hates to do her hair, and above all dislikes make-up. Admitting to being lonely in the beginning, but now has several friends who she can hang out with.

Although her first movie 'Boom' was panned by the critics and shunned by the audiences, two other Telugu movies 'Malliswari' and 'Pidugu' did get her noticed. She grossed 70 Lakh Rupees for 'Malliswari' - making her top the list of the highest paid actresses during a South Indian movie debut.

Not done with South Indian movies, she has been signed in a Tamil movie 'Bheema' opposite National Award Winner Vikram.

She has received decent reviews for her part in "Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya", as well as a brief appearance in 'Sarkar'.

Katrina had made Mumbai her base, didn't mind singing and dancing around trees and as a result is now one of the biggest mega-stars, perhaps one of the highest paid female-lead actresses in Bollywood, and a crowd-puller whenever she makes an appearance for a live song and dance number.
